STRATIGRAPHY

• Let's start with the so-called Thamama Stratigraphy!, compiled by Bruno Granier.

• A paper (CG2003_A05_BG_etal) by Bruno Granier, Ahmed Saqer Al Suwaidi, Robert Busnardo, Sabah Karim Aziz and Rolf Schroeder, recently published in " Carnets de Géologie / Notebooks on Geology", is bringing a new light on the Thamama stratigraphy: New insight on the stratigraphy of the "Upper Thamama" in offshore Abu Dhabi (U.A.E.)

• The key paper by Max Steineke, Richard A. Bramkamp and Nestor J. Sander on Saudi Arabia Stratigraphy, by permission of the AAPG © 1958!

• Alun H. Williams send us copies of his Ph.D. thesis submitted at the University of Aberdeen (Sept. 1999). Hereafter are attached the text: Glacioeustatic cyclicity in Quaternary carbonates of the southern Arabian Gulf: sedimentology, sequence stratigraphy, paleoenvironments and climatic record, and enclosures [*], currently hosted by the Virtual Geological Library. Tables and figures should be edited later on!

• Bruno Granier's synthesis on the Kahmah Stratigraphy! and the Slide Show presented at the 9th ADIPEC, currently hosted by the ESG - Emirates Society of Geosciences.

• H. Stewart Edgell uploaded his contribution to the Permian Stratigraphy of the Middle East, which was first presented to the 2nd Iranian Geol. Symp. held in 1977 in Teheran. Hereafter are attached the text: The Permian system as an oil and gas reservoir in Iran, Iraq and Arabia, and the enclosures:  [*], currently hosted by the Virtual Geological Library.

• Greater Persian Gulf Permian-Triassic stratigraphic nomenclature requires study, a contribution from Mansour S. Kashfi, by permission of the OGJ © 2000!

• A first report from Rajka Radoičić, which includes some little known biostratigraphic data about the Iraqi western desert area (Block 7)

PALEONTOLOGY

• Nestor J. Sander released the English abridged version of his 1952 "thèse d'état". It is a translation of his 1962 article in the Revue de Micropaléontologie. Hereafter are attached the text: Paleontologic and stratigraphic overview of the Paleogene in eastern Saudi Arabia, and the plates:  [*], currently hosted by the Virtual Geological Library.

• Some calcareous Algae: Cylindroporella sugdeni ELLIOTT 1957, by permission of Micropaleontology © 1957, and Cylindroporella cruciformis GRANIER et R. BRUN  1991; both pages are mirrored from the Early Cretaceous Calcareous Algae site.

• The Rudists: All you want to know about the Cretaceous Middle East faunas is there!, compiled by Thomas Steuber. 

• Did you find Heteraster musandamensis or H. couloni?, by permission of the GS of London © 1928.

MISCELLANEOUS

• H. Stewart Edgell's paper on Basement tectonics of Saudi Arabia as related to oil field structures is available in an electronic version, currently hosted on the ESG site, with kind permission from KLUWER  Academic Publishers © 1992!

• The paper Significance of reef limestones as oil and gas reservoirs in the Middle East and North Africa was presented by H. Stewart Edgell at the 10th Edgeworth David Symposium, held at the University of Sydney, September 4-5, 1997. It was then published only as an abstract. GMEOP and the author give you its extended version.

• Tom Lyon, Jon Fuller, and Bruno Granier sent us a case study of fractured reservoirs. This contribution, presented at the 8th ADIPEC, is currently hosted by the ESG - Emirates Society of Geosciences.

• Jürgen Grötsch and colleagues sent us another case study of reservoir characterization. This contribution too was presented at the 8th ADIPEC and it is also currently hosted by the ESG - Emirates Society of Geosciences. 

• Bruno Granier wrote a draft of a paper about a rock-typing approach, currently hosted by the ESG - Emirates Society of Geosciences. This contribution was submitted to the 9th ADIPEC but not selected since his synthesis on the Kahmah Stratigraphy was already approved!

• The final version of the paper (CG2003_A04_BG) was recently published in " Carnets de Géologie / Notebooks on Geology". It discusses "A new approach in rock-typing, documented by a case study of layer-cake reservoirs in field "A", offshore Abu Dhabi (U.A.E.)" 

• Sand Roses of Saudi Arabia: A report dealing with these delicate and ephemeral clusters of gypsum crystals, from Denis Mougenot, by courtesy of the Dhahran Geoscience Society © 2000!

• This is not stratigraphy, but it takes place in Oman: The Oman ophiolite virtual field trip, prepared by Paul Browning.
