Zakum field is located in the Abu Dhabi offshore areas, about 50 miles south-east of Umm Shaif, halfway between Das island and the mainland. Zakum One began drilling in April 1963. The picture below shows the original Zakum collector platform; it has been extended into a supercomplex, that is an archipelago of steel islands.
