Cretaceous rudist bivalves (Mollusca: Hippuritacea) in the Middle East:
A palaeontological data base by Thomas Steuber

These pages are excerpts of a taxonomic data base with the palaeontological data bank system Paleotax. The philosophy of the data base is to compile only published information, because a mingling of published information and unpublished (and probably wrong) opinions of myself or others would not serve objectivity. Nevertheless, the data base will be continuously updated with modern, published data.

The bibliography contains about 2100 references to literary material on taxonomy, palaeoecology, -biology and -biogeography of rudist bivalves (Hippuritacea, Jurassic-Cretaceous). All entries are supplemented with information on the subject matter i.e. the age, the country of origin of the material concerned, and taxonomic aspects (new taxa, descriptions, illustrations, lists only). An index of the countries of origin facilitates access to literature on specific geographical regions. The accompanying floppy contains the bibliography as a data bank and a menu-driven search program for IBM-compatible computers. Updating is provided as an optional service.
